Shannonbridge Fishing Report Dated 9th June 2008

The level of the river at Shannonbridge was 2.2 metres on Friday and this evening.

Allen Harrison and Joan Foster have been fishing the Grand Canal at Pullagh for three days.

They told me that the weed cutting machine has now gone past Pullagh. Brad Crawford and I found the canal upstream of Clononey Bridge very weedy on Friday when looking around. The banks of the River Brosna upstream of bridge at Clononey have a mass of bushes growing on both banks. This was a very popular stretch used for brown trout fishing some years ago. A welcome service of boat trips running three times daily between Shannonbridge and Clonmacnois on Saturdays and Sundays might interest anglers having a look at the river before deciding where to fish. Service operated by Silverline Cruisers with their 50 seater River Queen.
