On Friday enening 10th July, Mats Anderson and Kerstin Allvin from Sweden came to visit.
They had read about the Clonmacnois and West Offaly Railway and were disappointed that it was not operating.
They thought that the railway was connected with Clonmacnois.
They tried to visit Clonmacnois but the office had closed.
Mats and Kerstin were in Ireland for two weeks, driving around the country and staying in Bed and Breakfast houses.
Some of their comments included -
> They found that Ryanair flights were cheap
> Bed and Breakfasts were better away from the main tourist hotspots.
> The full Irish Breakfast provided sustanance for most of the day.
> Ireland is expensive due to the strong Euro versus their Krona.
> They liked the Irish pubs.
> They found many filling stations were closed.
> Many houses were for sale.
< They noticed many dogs wandering around in Ireland.
> They wondered why all the different colours flags were being flown.
> They commented that in Sweden mixer units have replaced the two hot and cold taps on handbasins.

Tomorrow they are off to visit Newgrange. Hopefully they will have a look at the village bridge from the quayside
and make a second attempt to visit Clonmacnois before they depart.
