Tip for controlling smell from new paint.
Cut a large onion in half and leave it in the room being painted.
Be a devil and use two or three.
The 'Words we use column in yesterdays Irish Times dealt with the
word "hoosht".Some old man in Kerry was asked what he thought about
banks and he thought that you would be better off keeping it in a
hoosht under the bed.
I was expecting a reference to its use around here for getting
chickens or children etc to move out of the way.
Someone told that the word to call hens or chickens was 'chuck chuck'
which probably derived from the irish word teacht.
