10 Steps for Handling Life’s Hurts

(Christophers News Notes, # 409)

1. Recognise a problem exists.

2. Acknowledge the pain you feel—or caused.

3. Ask for help, guidance, another opinion.

4. Do one small, concrete thing to create change.

5. Make amends if appropriate.

6. Remember you always have choices.

7. Pray for strength, courage, healing.

8. Share what you’ve learned with others.

9. Don’t give up hope or extinguish it in others.

10. Forgive yourself. Forgive others.

Questions people ask (Fr O’Flynn – Intercom)

Q. What do you think of priests who disagree with the Pope? Should they be silenced?

A. As the Lord said, any house divided against itself cannot stand. If members of a football team publicly disagreed with the manager’s tactics they would soon be sidelined. Open debate is one thing but open dissent is another. There are enough critics outside the Church without critics from within tearing it apart.
