Junior C Football Championship.
Shannonbridge started their campaign with a 1-13 to 1-5 win over Walsh Island, at Shannonbridge. By the fifteenth minute, Shannonbridge had a two point lead with scores coming from Adrian Kelly and Kieran Kearns (0-2 each). In the seventeenth minute Mark Carty worked his way through for a fine goal. Half time score 1-6 to 0-2. A hardworking defence, well lead by Colm Kelly and Kieran Coughlan, contained a period of sustained pressure from Walsh Island at the start of the second half, with both sides scoreless for thirteen minutes. Excellent fielding by Jim Killeen, two points from Martin Deeley and Harry Kearns accuracy from frees, set the home side up to ease away in the final ten minutes. Adrian Kelly closed the scoring with a fine run from inside his own half and a shot from forty metres.
