YEAR OF FAITH
During
this Year of Faith it is planned to have a pilgrimage- celebration centred on
the Sacraments in 7 historical / religious sites across the 4 Cluster parishes
of Clonmacnois, Cloghan/Banagher, Ferbane, and Ballinahown. It is hoped to involve all groups in the
Parishes, starting on Thurs 4th July, at St Manchan’s Well,
Leamonaghan, where the theme will be Baptism, and continuing each Thurs @
7.30pm. Each parish will take
responsibility for the pilgrimage- celebration at its own venue. These locations are made available to you
today. The concluding
pilgrimage-celebration will be in
Clonmacnois on Thurs 15th August, and the Sacramental theme
will be the Blessed Eucharist.
‘Passports’
specially designed for this ‘Year of
Faith’ celebration will be stamped at each location as a keepsake.

Questions People
Ask
(Fr
O’Flynn – Intercom)
Q. I’ve often seen a horseshoe over the door in stables. Where did this custom start?
A. One version is that the devil came to St Dunstan, a noted blacksmith, to have his hoof shod. Dunstan, being a man of prayer, recognised his customer, so he chained him and caused such searing pain in putting on the horseshoe that the devil cried for mercy. Dunstan released him on condition that he would never enter a place where a horseshoe was displayed

On Tolerance.
(Ernest
Kurtz, et al) "Spirituality begins with this
first insight: We are all imperfect. Such a vision not only invites but
requires tolerance: active appreciation of the richness and variety of
human beings on this earth, along with the understanding that we all struggle
with the same demons, we all share the same fears and sorrows, we all do the
best we can with what we have."
