Motorist’s
Prayer
Grant me, O Lord, a steady hand and
watchful eye
That no one shall be hurt as I pass by.
Thou gavest life, I pray no act of mine
May take away or mar that gift of
thine.
Shelter those, dear Lord, who bear me
company
From accidents and all calamity.
Teach me to use my car for other’s
need;
Nor miss through love of undue speed
The beauty of
the world, that thus I may
With joy and courtesy go on my way.
And reach without mishap Eternal Day.
SHANNON HARBOUR MASS @ 7pm on
Thursday August 20th .
The theme of this Mass will be ‘Remembering our Emigrants.’
You are invited to write down the names
of members of your families living abroad (along with the country or city in
which they are living), in the book which will be placed in a strategic place
in your local Church.
You might like to include those who have
died far from their homeland.
The books will then be taken and placed
before the Altar at this Mass.
‘Ar scath a chéile a mhaireas na daoine.’

Reminders form the
Bishop
A National Eucharistic Congress (NEC)
will be held in Knock on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th
September 2015. This is a nationwide
event, and one that involves us here in our parish. The theme is ‘Christ our
Hope’, found in the readings each Sunday until September 26/27. This week you
are invited to think about what hope means to you, and from where your hope
comes.
The NEC is a follow on from the International
Eucharistic Congress of 2012 and is also a preparation for the next congress to
be held in Cebu, The Philippines, in January 2016. The website for the Cebu International
Eucharistic Congress is: http://iec2016.ph/
We welcome into the Christian Community Darragh Shrahsn, son of Michael & Kara, who was baptised last weekend in Shannonbridge Church
