A
special word of thanks to all those who contributed in any way to Fr O’Hanlon’s
‘testimonial’ night on Fri 21st Aug, those who organised the event –
the Parish P. C. and others- , those who sent cards, greetings, donations of
any kind, and all who made the effort to come and be present for the
occasion. It will be cherished.
As
the poet wrote many years ago:
“The
fairest things have fleetest end,
“Their
scent survives their close.
But
the rose’s scent is bitterness
To
him that loved the rose.”
And
as the poet wrote much earlier:
“Sunt
lacrimae rerum, et mentem mortalia tangunt.”
