Hymns Hark, The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King; Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled. Joyful, all ye nations rise, Join the triumph of the skies; With the angels host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem Hark! The herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King.
Silent Night Silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright Round yon virgin mother and Child. Holy Infant, so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.
Adeste Fideles Adeste fideles, laeti triumphantes; Venite, venite in Bethlehem; Natum videte regem Angelorum; Venite adoremus, venite adoremus‟ Venite adoremus Dominum!

SECOND SUNDAY OF CHRISTMAS Today we hear the beautiful prologue to John’s Gospel. It would be worth finding the time to meditate on these verses during the week. We read in this prologue that not one thing came to be without God. Do we really see God at the centre of all things? If we truly believe in the incarnation, let us be alert and awake to the incarnation of God every day in our lives; Christ present in all people, in every created thing, for God is fully at work in creation at every stage, then, now and forever. For creation and incarnation are not different events, but the same event, the same process.
‘God is always incarnate, always bound to the world as its lover, as close to it, as we are to our own bodies, and concerned before all else to see that the body, God’s world, flourishes.’

A WAY FORWARD!  I said to the one who stood at the gate of the year ‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’ And he replied, ‘Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way!’ So I went forth &finding the Hand of God Trod gladly into the night.He led me towards the hills And the breaking of day in the east. [Minnie Louise Haskins 1875-1957]

The Work of Christmas. When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the kings and the princess are home, When the shepherds are back with their flock, The work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, To heal the broken, To feed the hungry, To release the prisoner, To rebuild the bridges, To bring peace among brothers and sisters , To make music in the heart. The music of hope and healing and happiness.
A Prayer for Faith in the New Year. Lord, even though I woke up with the same troubles I had yesterday, I know there is great power in my choices. So today, dear God, once again, I choose to listen for your voice above everything else. Forgive me for not trusting you enough. Forgive me for spinning my wheels and trying to work everything out all on my own. Help me to truly let go of what you have asked me to release to you and to believe that you’re at work in ways I can’t fully see.
NEW YEAR To leave the old with a burst of song; To recall the right and forgive the wrong; To forget the things that bind you fast To the vain regrets of the year that’s past; To have the strength to let go your hold Of the not worth while of the days grown old; To dare go forth with a purpose true, To the unknown task of the year that’s new; To help your brother along the road, To do his work and lift his load; To add your gift to the world’s good cheer, Is to have and to give a Happy New Year. ~ Author Unknown

The Year Ahead
May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding us from all sorrows and pain
But by strengthening us to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making our path easy,
But by making us sturdy to travel any path;
 Not by taking hardships from us,
But by taking fear from our heart;
Not by granting us unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping our face bright, even in the shadows;
Not by making our life always pleasant,
But by showing us when people and their causes need us most,
and by making us anxious to be there to help.
God's love, peace, hope and joy to us for the year ahead.
