Lord Of All Hopefulness
Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy. Whose trust ever childlike No cares could destroy. / Be there at our waking and give us we pray. / Your bliss in our hearts, Lord,
at the break of the day. / Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith. / Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe. / Be there at our labours and give us we pray / Your strength in our hearts, Lord,/ At the noon of the day.           Christ Be Beside Me. Christ be beside me, Christ be before me, /Christ be behind me, King of my heart,/ Christ be within me, Christ be below me,/ Christ be above me, never to part. Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand. / Christ all around me, Shield in the strife. / Christ in my sleeping, Christ in my sitting. / Christ in my rising, light of my life.
Let There Be Peace.
Let there be peace shared among us./ Let there be peace in our lives / May now your peace sweep this nation./
Cause us O Lord to arise/ Give us a fresh understanding,
Brotherly love that is real. / Let there be peace shared among us,/ Let there be peace.

FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD ‘The parents of Jesus took Him up to Jerusalem’ Forty days after His birth, Mary and Joseph take Jesus to the temple. In the Eastern Christian Church this feast is known as the ‘Feast of Encounter’. God comes to meet His people. The temple would have been crowded on that day but it is only the elderly couple, Simeon and Anna who recognise the child. All their lives they had waited, prayed and longed for the coming of the Messiah, and now their hopes are fulfilled. Their story teaches us the importance of patient waiting in life. ‘A waiting person is a patient person. The word patience means the willingness to stay where we are and live the situation out to the full in the belief that something hidden there will manifest itself to us’. (Henri J Nouwen). Everything God is preparing for us is worth the wait.

ST. BRIGID (Old Prayer) Oh Brigid Mary of the Gael, may your protection never fail. Spread your mantle over me where ‘ere I am, ‘ere I’ll be. In weather foul or weather fair, keep me in your loving care. Till I rest my journey o’er, with God and you forever more
