GAA NEWS from PRO Conor Kileen
Junior Football Championship Quarter Final
Shannonbridge 0-11
Ferbane 0-6
Shannonbridge stormed to victory on Thursday night
last in a blustery Doon to insure a semi final place
in the Junior A Championship.
Shannonbridge were very dominant in all exchanges in
the opening quarter before losing the influential
Hubert Darcy who contributed two points before
retiring through injury.
No sooner had the Accountant left the field when
Declan Kelly his replacement kicked the ball over with
his first kick to keep the Bridge in good standing.
Ferbane fought back with two points and at the
interval the score favoured the Blue and Gold 0-8 to
0-2.
With the wind at their backs Ferbane carried the fight
to the Bridge and held their neighbours to just three
points in the second half.
The Clonmacnoise Parish Men will be happy with this
result and will further strenghen their panel when
Patjoe Kelly returns from holiday and his Neoghbour
Karol the "Hogget" Kelly makes his return from exile
shortly, after been away for three years on Stateside.
