The death has occurred of Jimmy Murray or Jaimie at his pub in Knockcrockery.

Jaimie was captain of the Roscommon team that won the All Ireland football final in 1943 /44. At the viewing in Knockcrockery this evening an old supporter told us that they should also have won the 1946 final. Leading by two goals and only minutes to go somebody decided to take Jaimie off as he had blood on his face and they wanted to get him ready for the presentation. Alas Kerry scored two quick goals after Jaimie went off and drew the game. Kerry won the re-play. May he rest in peace.

We were looking out for new born lambs in the fields but they were very scarce. My cousin Andy Lawlor told us that at Christmas one of their ewes had five lambs. This beats the tale of the cousins in Togher who had two ewes that produced four lambs each.

Today was a good bright fine day with no rain about Shannonbridge. The village still has an amount of flood surrounding it. Mick Doherty and son took their cruiser upstream today and visited Clonmacnois. They reported an amount of floating branches on the river during their trip.
