Shannonbridge Fishing Report
The river level on Monday evening 23rd July at Shannonbridge was 3.0 metres.
Anglers were scarce on the ground but seven arrived at the weekend that will
hopefully catch some fish. Noticed that the August Motor Boats monthly magazine
has a feature article on ‘Cruising the
Carrick-on-Shannon.
- Michael O’Neill Junior, from Shankill,
in Athlone harbour with worms on a windy day and caught 17 lbs of fish in two
hours. Three roach were all over 1.5 lbs each and he also had bream, hybrid and
perch.
- Steiner Klaus caught a small pike 1.2 kg. while using a blinker when fishing from
his cruiser on 15th July at Carrick-on-Shannon.
- Eamon Phelan from Dansha,
and caught one 5 lbs pike while using a spinner. The fish was returned alive.
- Young Shane O’Rourke from Correen recorded two catches. Using pole and worm
Shane caught 15 perch to 13 oz on the first day. Next day he caught 53 perch to 1 lb
using the pole and worms.
- Chantell Smith from
used maggot / caster to catch 10 lbs of roach and hybrids. Could have been better was
her comment and it was her first time fishing.
- Chris Compton,
catch 12.5 lbs.
- Chris Taylor from
his first pike using a rubber lure. It weighed 8 to 10 lbs and chewed up the lure. Magic
was his remark.
