Shannonbridge Fishing Report dated 17th July 2007.

River level on 9th July was 2.57 metres, on Saturday 14th the level was 2.96 metres.

The level on Tuesday 17th July was 3.06 metres at the gauge beside the village bridge.

River levels are getting too high for comfort.

The HOT WATER from the power plant remains out of order.

- Jack Finucane from Tarbert caught a 3.5 lbs trout using a spinner on the River Shannon

on 9th July which was dry and sunny. He felt good catching it.

- Chris Mather from Preston recorded two catches. Fishing a Backwater on 9th July using

a feeder with caster and worm he caught 47 lbs which included 8 bream.

- On 11th July Chris fished the Shannon on a dry and sunny day using waggler with

caster and maggot to catch 58 lbs of fish made up of two bream and the rest were hybrids.

His comment “signs of water recovering at long last”.

-His friend Mike Winrow recorded two catches for the same days and locations.

On the 9th July Mike had a 20 lbs catch on the feeder. On the 11th July his catch was 32 lbs,

consisting of three bream and mostly hybrids.

- Young brothers Jack and Kieran Connaughton from Clonark fished the Shannon

at Shannonbridge on 14th July using worm on the float. Jack had 5 perch and 1 bream and

Kieran caught 3 perch and 1 bream. Both found it good fun and enjoyable.

- Norbert Schubert from Berlin fished in the rain at Mountshannon from a cruiser on 15th July

and had no success with spinner or maggot. He shared his dinner with the fish and used pieces

of steak for hook bait. He caught two large eels and lost another one. Later at Clonmacnois

Norbert used a spinner to catch one fine pike.
