In The Shannonbridge Star April 1979 under the heading "People"

'Of course at my age of 86 years anything can happen.
You could be printing my death notice instead of my song'

Last month (March 1979) John Lowe wrote those wordsin a letter
to The Shannonbridge Star. Now that lovable old man of song and story
has gone the whole hog and turned into a prophet and saint.
John Lowe is dead and we regret his passingaway so quickly, just when
so many of us were getting to know him.

A week before his death, John Lowe came to Shannonbridge to deliver
two of his own songs and he made a generous donation towards the paper.
We feel sure you would like to read his songs and we print one of them
for you this month.A Special Mass will be offered for his soul in
Shannonbridge Church at the request of The Shannonbridge Star.
May he rest in peace.
