Shannonbridge Fishing Report dated 27th July 2010
The river level is 2.4 metres.Anglers and landowners
have noted that the bridge access to the backriver
has had new timbers fitted.A safety handrail has
yet to be added.
>Susan Radcliffe Exeter fished near the village
bridge using maggot to catch 10 tench Best 2lbs.
>Niel Grehan Ballinasloe fished Grand Canal using
maggot to catch two tench of 3lb and 4lb and some
good roach as well.
>Local gillie Aidan Kelly caught 9 bream between
1lb and 2lbs and some roach at Shannonbridge all
in one hour.
>Next day 23rd July Aidan fished with red maggot
in sunshine catching 15 skimmer bream and 30 roach.
>Next day Aidan fished with corn bread and caster
catching 56 roach rudd and skimmers.Good fishing.
>Later that day Aidan fished with bread/maggot and
caught a hybrid of 2.75 lbs and lots of other fish.
>Use Willy Belgium fished the Shannon using dead
bait to catch 7 pike from 50cm to 75cm.Returned
alive.
>Use Willy fished the Shannon using feeder to catch
37 roach in four hours.
>Van Bevere Belgium fished the Shannon with feeder
and maggot to catch 48 roach in five hours.
>Aedon King fished the Hot Water using feeder to
catch a 3lb tench 15 rudd and two pike.
>Neil Curran fished with Aedon using caster and
sweetcorn catching a 2lb tench 2 pike and 10 good
rudd.Noted foreign anglers taking fish at Hot Water
>Louise Killeen Shannonbridge fished on a backwater
using feeder caster/sweetcorn to catch15 roach
4 rudd and lost what she reckons were 3 tench.
Very consistent fishing with bites every time.
>Aidan Kelly fished with Louise and caught a 3lbs
pike on size 14 hook and sweetcorn.
Reports of catches of good skimmer bream 2lbs from
the River Suck.About a dozen but name or catch not
written in as yet.
