The Birr Community Nursing Unit have developed a treat for their patients by taking them out for the night,Tuesday night it Shannonbridge was the choice.At 8pm the bus arrived in Shannonbridge and some ten residents of the Unit and family and helpers alighted.Among the patients were Tim Devery,Glebe,Kieran Curley,Crevagh and Joe Feighery from Brackagh.Lorraine Devery,Tim Devery's niece had arranged the Irish Traditinal Group to play music and some light refreshments were served in the two hours before they departed home at 10pm.
Phil Kelly nee Kearns and Kathleen Mc Cormack were two of the helpers looking afterthegroup.
Kathleen's parents were Mick Mc Cormack and Kathleen Mc Manus who once lived in Leitra.By coincidence Kathleen told us that she was a twin sister to Father Ignatius Mc Cormack who preached the homily at The Pattern in Clonmacnois on Sunday last.Kathleen promised to get a copy of the homily for posting on this web site.
Results for this years Tidy Town Competition were posted on the papers on Tuesday.
Today was generally dry with sunshine.The river level has risen and there is a good chunk of water on the callows.
