Fishing Report Shannonbridge ...dated 8th October 2010
The river level today on Shannonbridge gauge reads 3.5 metres.Floodwater has gone from most of the land beside the river.Weather has been good with many days of sun and wind and the river has been flowing fast. But there is still lots of water in the river.
>Bill Lanmert from Banbury fished at Shannonharbour on 1st/10 with wind and showers using a maggot and feeder to catch 30lbs of bream, roach and rudd.Six bream were 3.5 lbs each, and six rudd and six rudd all weighed about 12 ounces each.
>Tony Chard Banbury fished alongside Bill and used maggot and feeder to catch 18 lbs of hybrids and skimmers.Best fish weighed 1.5lbs.
>Tony Chard fished The Boathouse on the Suck on 27/09 in sun and wind again using maggot and feeder to catch 15lbs of skimmers. Best fish was 2lbs.
> Ralph Hoiky fished Shannonharbour on 1st/10 in sun and rain using maggot and feeder to catch 24 lbs of roach and hybrids.
>BisQil Frant from Austria fished at Clonmacnois on 7/10 using a gummie fish to catch a 97cm pike which was returned alive. He celebrated on a Cuban cigar.
>Terry Dawson and his son Andrew are again visiting the area, but this time by cruiser.
On the morning of 7/10 Terry and Andrew reported that the bay upstream from the bridge at Shannonbridge was alive with fish topping. The day was sunny and windy and they chose a bay on the Such near the mouth of the river.Using maggot and feeder they fished the opposite bank with little result. Then Andrew suggested that they fish near their boat. The fish were there and they caught 38 lbs of roach/bream hybrids. Will they go back there again or move on?.Hopefully they will record other catches later.
