shannonbridge Fishing Report ...dated 11th October 2010

Weatherwise another good week with sun and wind.
The river level has eased back a little in level.Somebody has the river levels
on record and it would be good to share this information for overseas visitors.
>Two Belgian anglers Even and Xavier stayed in Rachra House and used their lakeboat
for pike fishing on the rivers.They left details of their catches for five days.
17th Sept they caught 7 pike measuring 81, 75, 70, 65 and 50cm.
18th Sept they had 4 pike all measuring around 70cm.
19th Sept they caught 8 pike 90, 78 75, 72, 68,65, 60 and 50cm.
20th Sept caught 5 pike.Biggest measured 80cm.
21st Sept they landed 11 pike with the biggest measuring 92cm.
>Dieter and Gerd Newbert and Andre Stoppel and Gerhard Lahn from Hamburg have come holidaying on the Shannon every two years since 1997.This year they fished for pike from their hired cruiser using spinners and they said that they caught too much pike.
>Terry Dawson and his son Andrew from Boston Lincs England fished the rest of their holiday at Shannonbridge.
On 8/10 they moved to a swim on the Shannon and used a feeder with worm and caster cocktail to catch 70 lbs of bream, roach and hybrids fishing for six hours.
On 9/10 fishing the same swim and using worm,caster and maggot with a feeder
they had 86 lbs of bream, roach and hybrids.Shannon still the best they reckon.Photos.
> Richie Dunne from Durrow, County Laois fished the Suck on 11/10 in sun and wind
using mackerel bait to catch 2 pike weighing 10lbs 4oz and 7 lbs 14oz over eight hours.
Richie told that recently he caught a 32 lbs pike while fishing in this area.
