Recently Mike Naughton visited Shannonbridge.Mike is a close relative
of the late Tommy Naughton and of Tom's brother Kieran who was drowned
in the Shannon after a mishap with his boat.
Mike would like to have photographs of the late Tommy and Kieran and
you can contact Mike at his e-mail address naughton@bc.edu

Met a man on 28th March who told me he was returning a head to
Clonmacnois which had been given to him by a friend that knew he was
interested in such items.
Saint Ciaran's Well is beside the roadway about half a mile before you
reach Clonmacnois. For many years the well was in an open field
surrounded with about four icons or statues. One of the statues had its
head broken off and was found lying in the grass.
The well has dried up over the years possibly due to bog drainage.
Anyhow good news from the well is that the Office of Public Works have
made an agreement with the owner of the field and the corner of that
field has now been fenced off.As well the stonework of the well has
got a make-over and steps leading down to the well made safe.Hopefully
with the return of The Head further work can go ahead and water will
return to Saint Ciaran's Well.

Dubarry the shoe manufacturers in Ballinasloe have a catchy 2011
Spring Summer Catalogue this year. They have used some Shannonbridge
photographs on pages 60 and 61.See www.dubarry.com
