Owen O Neill a worker on the building of the new power plant at Shannonbridge was killed instantly on Tuesday evening when a piece of equipment used for carrying fell into a large opening. Owen was the driver of the machine and after parking it had gone down into the opening to help unload the piece of equipment he had just delivered.
Owen (37) was from North Gate Street in Athlone and was unmarried. His funeral takes place today.May he rest in peace.
Today is First Friday and as usual there is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Shannonbridge Church until evening Mass. Father Chrity O Connor invites everyone to stop off for a visit to the church sometime today.
Yesterday was Catherina Slattery's birthday and her friends turned out to help celebrate the occasion with Colin Mark and Ciora providing the easy sounds.
