Belarus time once again. This year 47skilled volunteers from Athlone Shannonbridge and area are going to Balarus to carry out work on an orphanage that caters for 134 children. Carrying the flag for our area are John Mitchell and Billy Duffy both from Clondelara.
The work they will carry out in their week there includes - installing 56 double glazed windows, 92 bunk beds and furnishings such as blankets sheets pillows etc, 24 door frames and doors, new toilets for the orphanage, a new kitchen and extraction unit, roof repairs,new tiling, plumbing, lighting, paint, heating, wallpapering and floor covering.
How can one help ?. Presently tickets for a raffle are on sale at £20 each for a raffle that will take place on Sat 10th April at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel Athlone and are available from Billy Duffy tel 087-7925392.
Every trade will be represented in the group and all 47 people are paying their own airfare and insurance and the work is all voluntarily.
