On Saturday morning Shannonbridge looked a bit like Haiti with the amount of Garda everywhere including a police boat on the river.It was all revealed later when two coaches arrived with a motor bike escort bringing a group of European parliament officials to lunch in the Fort Restaurant having visited Birr Castle and Clonmacnois as part of their outing to Laois / Offaly. Good to see them using the facility and the ones that did not travel missed out as a magnificent feast had been prepared.
