Former residents of Saint Kieran's Park - Joe and Marie Melia and Paddy and Joan Daly made the trip from Athlone on Saturday night for an early Mother's Day meal in The Fort. Yesterday the Fort had three lunch sittings to cater for the Mothers. Glad to see Peggy Maguire Ferbane was one of the celebrants.
Next Saturday the Industrial Heritage Association of Ireland hold their AGM in The Fort at 11 a.m. After formal business is concluded members of the IHAI will study the Shannon Navigation system and visit Blackwater Works and the Dalton Artefacts Center at the Power Plant.
Membership of IHAI is £20 and lunch for members attending is £10.
