The old power plant in Shannonbridge ended production yesterday after almost forty years supplying electricity. The building of the new plant alongside is progressing well and will start producing 150 Meggawatts of electricity by the end of the year.
This finish of production means that no hot water will be going into the Shannon and lots of tench, roach, rudd, bream, hyrids not to mention anglers will miss this.
The good thing is the fishery people have looked at the Hot Water fishing amenity and are working on a plan to make it easier to find and have more room for anglers to use when the larger amount of Hot Water comes on stream.
