The Parish Newsletter yesterday has an article on Laughter and the first line has a quote from Victor Borge that says"Laughter is the closet distance between two people"
The local power plant is about to stop producing electricity and a new Human Resources manager Enda Powell is busy helping staff decide on what to do. Shannonbridge Power Station workers are renowned for putting a nickname on every new comer to the staff and so the Human Resource man is Enda Career. Nice one.
Good to hear Father O Hanlon making use of his recent trip to Kenya using atrick used by the Zulus in catching ring tailed monkeys. These monkeys are popular with Zoos and they also are very fond of melon seeds. So the Zulus cut a hole in a growing melon just large enough for the monkey to get his hand into and grab a handful of seeds. With his paw full of seeds he is unable to get out his hand.So along come the Zulus and sell the monkey to the zoo. The story was used to remind us of temptation. This reminds us that our Parish Priest has promised to write a number of short accounts on life in Kenya as he saw it. Look forward to them.
