The Corncrake people at Crank House Banagher tell us that the number of corncrakes identified so far is 18 birds. You can contact them at 0509-51676.
Today the bad news that there was two dead swans near the bridge at Shannonbridge was passed on to Crank House who will pass on the news to the Swan Sanctuary office and the Wildlife office.
One swan is near the sewage outlet pipe and the second one is upstream from the bridge. Many fatalities have been caused by swans flying into the overhead cables but ESB have placed coloured cones on their cables which has helped to reduce accidents to swans.
