Some months ago John Price - he of the Noel Keena/John Price pub smoking rooms fame was asked to throw an eye at the location of some bird nesting boxes in Killeen's garden and we are glad to report there is now a family of Blue Tits being reared in one of the boxes which he attached onto an old apple tree.
Went to Clonmacnois with Jim and Maureen on Friday evening to visit some family and friends graves.It was like walking through history as we searched for old friends last resting place. Just upstream from the cemetery we heard two corncrakes. One was on the Roscommon bank and the other in the callow land on the opposite Offaly side.Rang the corncrake people and left the message.
