Weather this week has been top drawer and the visiting anglers are having mixed luck.Water temperature has risen and bream, tench and roach are heading for maternity which are the backwaters and bays.Good fishing in Cappaleitra, Clonfert and Mickies Backwater. Feel that anglers should be more aware that fish are in spawn and should not use keepnets. Keepnets are lonk nets usually about three metres long that are placed in the water in front of the angler in which he places his catch. In the evening the keepnet is removed and the fish emptied out on the grass or onto a large sheet of plastic where they are either weighed or photographed or both. They are then released back alive into the water. How would you feel if you were a pregnant mother being placed in a tight net with maybe fifty or more pregnant mothers for up to twelve hours and then tossed out on a plastic sheet.
